Scout Policy

Expected Standards for Behaviors

General Guidelines:

Behavior shall be modeled on the Twelve Points of the Scout Law:

A Scout is:

Trustworthy Obedient
Loyal Cheerful
Helpful Thrifty
Friendly Brave
Clean Courteous
Kind Reverent

The Crew Advisor, Assistant Crew Advisor or other Adult Leader in charge shall decide if behavior is satisfactory and will take appropriate action to see that these guidelines are enforced.  This might include the denial of certain privileges or exclusion from participation in future Crew activities.

Specific Rules:

bulletThe instructions of Adult Leaders shall be followed at all times.
bulletAbsolutely no fighting, excessively rough play, or foul language.
bulletNo alcohol, drugs, tobacco, or inappropriate material in any form.
bulletNo threatening or abuse, in any form, towards another person.
bulletNo willful destruction or damage to property of others.  This includes unauthorized possession, ie., theft.
bulletNo disruptive behavior which could result in a compromise of safety standards.

Serious incidents may require appropriate disciplinary action including:

bulletImmediate removal from the Crew activity (ie., be sent home)
bulletPermanent or temporary exclusion from future activities (ie., be suspended or kicked out of the Venture Crew).

The Adult Leaders would prefer that we not have to spell these consequences out; however, past experiences have demonstrated that it is best to make sure every Crew Member knows what behavior is expected beforehand.

Transportation outside Austin city limits

When an activity calls for transportation outside of Austin city limits (sometimes within the city limits), special rules apply.

All activities will be adult-supervised, and Crew members are not permitted to deviate from the Crew's planned activities.  Adult "ramrods" are assigned to each activity.  In addition, Crew Members ARE ONLY PERMITTED TO TRANSPORT THEMSELVES AND OTHERS TO THE CHURCH AND HOME.  Only Adults may provide transportation to Venture Crew One members.  In addition the Scout office must be informed and a Tour Permit must be submitted.  For trips exceeding 500 miles a National Office Tour Permit must be obtained.

BSA National Standards

Venture Crew One is chartered by Boy Scouts of America and its Venturing Program.  The requirements of the national office are incorporated into our program.
