High school sophomores, juniors or seniors are eligible to become a Crew member in Venture Crew One. Most join as a sophomore, but there are exceptions. All are welcome. Ideally, as a sophomore a prospective member will attend the Orientation Meeting, plus bring a parent/guardian, the Sign-up Material and required fees. If you can't make it, you can sign-up by sending the Sign-up Material and fees to the Venture Crew One Advisor. Parents join the Crew when their son or daughter signs-up. Parents are needed to support the Crew, provide transportation, meet the BSA adult two-deep leadership policy, and make the program a success.
To participate you must complete the Sign-up Material and be current with you dues. In addition each Crew Member attends an orientation program that describes the trek planning guidelines of Venture Crew One. In addition the Crew will spend time gathering information on the types of gear, both personal and Crew gear, that is necessary for a backpacking trek.
All Venture Crew One activities will be adult-supervised, and Crew members are not permitted to deviate from the Crew's planned activities or policies. Adult "ramrods" are assigned to each campout. They are responsible for ensuring that the activity meets the BSA standards.
