| Personal GearCrew One recommends that parents not spend a great deal of money on equipment until the Crew member gains some experience. Most equipment can be rented at reasonable prices. Renting also provides Crew members an opportunity to become familiar with different types of gear, and experiment before actually purchasing something they might not use.
Crew GearThe Equipment Fee is used to acquire and maintain the gear provided by Venture Crew One. Except for tents, Venture Crew One supplies equipment that the entire Crew uses, such as for cooking, purifying water, first aid, cutting wood and other backpacking needs of the Crew. The Venture Crew Quartermaster and the Crew Quartermasters from each Crew are responsible for the Crew equipment. Adults support these Scouts and provide the oversight needed to maintain and account for the equipment checked out by each Crew on an outing.
