Camping/Service ProgramThe Venture Crew One Program is very focused and limited in scope. It is designed to learn primitive camping skills, experience high adventure backpacking and other similar outdoor activities, and provide service to the community. Each quarter during the school year, one backpacking or other high adventure activity will be planned. Campouts feature activities to teach Scouting skills, campfires, worship services, special activities and tours, and lots of fun. Also, each Crew will have at least one week-long high adventure trek annually. Leading up to each activity will be one or more meetings to prepare the Crew. Part of the camping program is designed to teach young women and men how to deal with adversity and the elements. This requires participation - rain or shine. At least once a year the entire Crew works jointly on a major service project benefiting the Austin community.
